In Memoriam
In loving memory of those we have lost.
Gone but not forgotten.
"Love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation."
-Kahlil Gibran
Gerhard Foerg and his mules, June and Roman.
Gerhard was the cofounder of Wild Rose Sanctuary along with Dianne Foerg. Gerhard passed away on June 30, 2021. Dianne is committed to continuing Gerhard's dream of bringing public awareness to rescue horses and giving them a lifelong Sanctuary.
Jackson
Jackson was a sorrel (reddish brown) Tennessee Walking Horse gelding who was saved in June 2019 when he was 15 years old. He was broken to ride. We have no idea what happened to him because he had a horrible fear of humans. We gave him lots of time to earn our trust. Jackson died in March of 2024.
Snookers
Snookers was a black Alpaca gelding who was saved in April 2016 when he was 5 years old. He was quite the character. We could not get near him for quite some time but he finally allowed us to give him treats occasionally. He enjoyed cooling off in his little swimming pool.
Snookers died in May of 2024.
Gypsy
Gypsy was a buckskin and white American Paint Horse mare who was saved in April 2019 when she was 7 years old. When Gypsy first came here, she had no trust in humans but gradually we earned her trust. Gypsy died in June of 2024.
